Dedicated Clarence W Werner home on December 9, 1979 on behalf of all citizen of Wood County who have benefited from his personal efforts. Werner home’s philosophy is to be aware of the needs of the residents and to meet those needs by providing quality services.
In 1979, when the home opened, the Werner Home was served with House Parents, who actually had private living quarters in the home and provided live in care to the men and women who lived here. As the program evolved, the House Parent was replaced with a 24 hour a day rotating staff.
The Direct Care staff has developed Werner Homes mission statement:
Welcome to a healthy and balanced life style
Encourage independent living with compassion,
encouragement and understanding
Respect one another, remembering that “Team work” is the
function that builds a community in our home
Nothing will prevent us from reaching our goals
Entertain for fun
Relax, Relate and Respect

The last year has been a continuation of fun and adventure. The Werner home has been involved in giving back to the community by participating with the Wood Lane Relay for Life Team for the past 6 years. Together as a team, we have watched our team grow, getting more homes, parents and staff involved.
We are a home that loves a challenge, and can make fun out of almost every event we have. We are a high-spirited home of staff and residents known for our antics and creativity.
Currently, we are getting ready for the Holidays. Staff planned a decorating party for the home and breakfast was provided for our workers and residents. Staff is preparing a Family Christmas Party, serving refreshments to family and friends. Staff, residents and family members also were involved in a Bake Sale Bazaar with proceeds going to our Relay for live Team. On top of all the giving back, Werner home residents enjoy activities with a favorite being going to Vail Meadows to enjoy the horses and therapy horse back riding.
